Our Slotted Stud Tie system transfers lateral load from the tie through a plate, which transfers the load to the stud backing. As the plate is directly fastened to the stud, all load is transferred efficiently.

  1. Permits up to 50 mm in-situ vertical adjustment
  2. Ensures perfect horizontal alignment with mortar joints
  3. Restrains components to eliminate disengagement
  4. Reduces movement and free play
  5. Reduces deformation caused by load
  6. Minimizes moisture load

Slotted Stud TieDesigned to Transfer Lateral Loads to Light Structural Back-Up Walls

The fasteners in our Slotted Stud Ties connect to side surfaces of the structural backing, resisting shear loads. Their position in relationship to the wall system resists direct tension and moisture loads as they transfer load directly. Surface mounted tie systems are not able to provide as strong a connection to structural backing.

The Slotted Stud Tie (Type I) provides a constant connection of the veneer wall to the structural backing without any risk of veneer disengagement. The singular slot in the tie allows up to 2 inches of vertical play, and this ensures vertical flexibility for any joint regardless of where the Stud Plate was fastened to the structural backing.

Winnipeg ChurchThe vertical play also allows for improved flexibility in incidences of vertical movement between the veneer and the structural backing.

Slotted Stud Ties can also be effectively employed in multiple veneer applications including clay, brick, concrete, conventional stone and other types of mortar set veneers.

It must be noted that Slotted Stud Ties transfer loads that are perpendicular to a wall, but they are not designed to resist parallel forces. For a product that best resist shear and load in cavity walls, view our Stud Shear™Connector product.

Insulation SupportVpTieOur Insulation Support (optional) is a polyethylene fitting pressed against the cavity insulation and this prevents separation during construction. Supports are commonly installed prior to veneers, and when V-Ties are installed, insulation is safely supported. V-Ties are available in a wide variety of standard lengths to accommodate various thicknesses of masonry veneer and cavity wall spaces.

Design specifications and regulations differ between Canada and US industries, and we accommodate for both sets of standards and regulations. Please view the appropriate regional documentation for dimensions, diagrams and specifications.
