  RAP-TIE COMPOSITE WALL ACTION

In most applications, the Rap-Tie is utilized as a conventional tie, transferring the lateral veneer load to the backup wall. In such situations, a single fastener will usually prove adequate. However, by utilizing two or three fasteners to attach the L-Plate to the backup wall, shear forces as well as axial forces can be carried by the Rap-Tie, providing for the formation of a vertically spanning composite wall. The entire wall thickness can become effective in resisting lateral loads with reduced lateral deflections (see FERO Stud Shear™ Connector or Block Shear™ Connector literature).

V-Tie™: The 60 mm (2.4") V-Tie™ is utilized in the Rap-Tie system consisting of 25 mm (1") air space and 90 mm (3.5") brick veneer. Other available V-Tie™ sizes are: 80 (3.1"), 100 (3.9"), 120 (4.7"), 140 (5.5"), 160 (6.3"),180 (7.1"), 200 (7.9"), 225 (8.9") and 250 (9.8") mm.

Insulation Support: The Insulation Support is standard.
