TIE CLIP INTRODUCTION
The unique configuration of the V-Tie™ (see Figure1),
utilized in FERO Engineered Masonry Connectors provides for
much greater pull-out (or push-out) capacity from the mortar
joint of the brick veneer than conventional ties. The area
of mortar effective in providing support to the V-Tie™ and
to a number of conventional ties is illustrated in Figure
2. A comparison of the pull-out capacities of the various
tie types is presented in Table 1.
For seismic and high lateral wind load applications,
an increased tie pull-out and separation resistance from
the brick veneer may be required. Such design requirements
can be achieved by mechanically fastening the V-Tie™ to
a continuous horizontal wire installed within the bed joints
of the brick veneer. The Lateral Tie Clip, as presented in
Figure 3, provides for such mechanical attachment. |
