Fero - Engineered Masonry Connectors
FERO'S engineered masonry connectors and masonry ties set the industry standard for performance, reliability and quality. They allow you to improve the performance and strength of your wall system while lowering your cost! In fact, fewer FERO connectors are required per project than any other system.
Presently, exterior brick veneer on a building is used primarily for aesthetics and to provide a weathering surface. No consideration is given to the utilization of the veneer as a structural component. All lateral loads (i.e., wind and earthquake) acting on the brick veneer must be transferred to a backup wall system by means of appropriately designed ties. In most cases, the backup wall consists of concrete masonry units and is designed to resist all of the applied loads.
The FERO Block Shear™ Connector was developed to transfer shear between the brick veneer and the backup wall. With the use of this shear resisting connector, composite load carrying action is achieved between the brick veneer and backup wall, resulting in a wall system with a changed and improved load resisting capacity, facilitating the construction of thinner masonry cavity walls and masonry veneer walls that satisfy the need for larger cavities.
And FERO ties, with the optional Insulation Support, secure the insulation permanently against the backup wall, and can accommodate for construction tolerances.
The use of the the FAST™ (FERO Angle Support Technology) system offers fast, low-cost, and effective shelf angle installations. Thoroughly tested and proven both in the laboratory and the field, the pre-engineered FAST™ system is used to support dead loads and support masonry veneer or other cladding systems. Installing the FAST™ system at every floor level will reduce the cost masonry supports by up to 50%.
All of the FERO systems have been thoroughly tested in complete assemblies, including the masonry components, in accordance with CSA standard A370 “Connectors for Masonry”. Their performance also exceeds all established guidelines and design criteria of the ACI code.
FERO Corporation offers complete and comprehensive technical information and support to distributors, architects, masons, engineers and contractors. FERO is committed to providing superior solutions for the connection and attachment of cavity and veneer walls.
